Education in America
The education system in the U.S. is widely regarded as one of the best in the world.  It offers students the most exciting, rewarding and comprehensive array of study options . International students who are able to study in America have almost unlimited choices. Students who successfully complete their degrees in the U.S. are sought-after by employers worldwide.

The U.S. enjoys leading positions in both economic and technological areas no doubt due to the high level of the American education system. A large part of  ''The American Dream'' is to provide a college education for one's children. Consequently, the U.S. continues to invest heavily in education and provides best-in-class resources to students.

In the United States, education is compulsory for all students until ages 16-18 depending on the individual state. All public elementary and secondary schools are free to U.S. citizens and permanent residences (Green Card holders). According to the U.S. Department of Education, public elementary and secondary schools will spend approximately $525 billion for the 2011-12 school year. On average, the current expenditure per public school student in America is projected to be almost $11,000 for this year. Public school systems will employ over 3 million teachers this fall, resulting in a pupil/teacher ratio of 15.5. The same ratio in private schools is estimated to be 12.9.

The undergraduate and post-graduate education system in the U.S. is well-recognized by the world's educational communities. Among the top 20 universities in the world, 15 are located in America. The design of the educational programs along with the practical knowledge obtained from studies and the ability to learn in a multi-cultural environment, makes the U.S. one of the top destinations for international students.

Benefits of U.S. Education:

(1) World-Class Learning Institutions
The United States has more institutions of higher learning than any other country in the world. Most American colleges and universities offer top-notch education programs with highly qualified teaching staffs. One of the best things about studying in the U.S. is the vast number of academic options offered to students.

(2) Supporting Industries, Training & Research
Because of the vast wealth of resources in America, the opportunities for practical training related to the field of study are vast. Most colleges and universities have established affiliations with employers and researcher facilities in different fields of study, thereby creating an avenue for students to obtain invaluable, hands-on experience.

(3) Technology
Many universities incorporate the latest technology into their curriculum, encouraging students to obtain proficiency before going out into the workplace. Specialized technology--such as the newest medical equipment in medical schools--allows each student to maximize their potential and gain experience that is marketable in the real world.

(4) Flexibility
Since the school system in the U.S. utilizes credit units and often accommodates working students, most schools offer academic programs that are flexible in nature. This means that, very often, a student can vary their class-load in order to accommodate work, family and personal needs, etc.  A student can choose when to attend classes, how many classes to enroll in each semester or quarter, etc. without losing any of the credits they have already acquired.
